Vimsathi (Koota) Vargam
There are twenty different Vargams which could be considered for a perfect match.  Over the ages, scholors have reduced them to ten, eight, six and four.  However, all the twenty aspects are listed below.  Methods for deciding on each of them are also given.  It is an attempt to translate the original text into understandable English.  Many names are kept original for want of suitable English terms.

Angaraka Dosha or Kuja Dosha or Mangal Dosha or Sevvai Dosha or Mars Dosha. (Refer your horoscope chart)
If the above planet is in the 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th place from the Lagna, then it is supposed to be a Dosha, subject to the following exceptions.
(a) there is no Dosha for those whose Janma Rasi is Kataka(Cancer), Simha (Leo) or Makara (Capricon).
(b) If the Dosha is due to the 2nd place, and if that place happens to be Midhuna (Gemini) or Kanya (Virgo), then there is no Dosha.
(c) If the Dosha is due to the 4th place, and if that place happens to be Mesha  (Aries) or Vrischika (Scorpio), then there is no Dosha.
(d) If the Dosha is due to the 7th place, and if that place happens to be Makara (Capricon) or Kataka (Cancer), then there is no Dosha.
(e) If the Dosha is due to the 8th place, and if that place happens to be Dhanush (Saggitarius) or Meena (Pisces), then there is no Dosha.
(f) If the Dosha is due to the 12th place, and if that place happens to be Vrishabha (Taurus), then there is no Dosha.
(g) It is also said that irrespective of the place, if Kuja is in the same place as Brihaspathi (Jupitor) or Chandra (Moon), then there is no Dosha.
Note: There are several other minute aspects to be considered in this regard.  It is advisable to consult a good and known astrologer.
